Class + Coffee Pop Up — WellcommDC [4.13.26]

WellcommDC: The Best of the DMV's Wellness Community

WellcommDC is the email newsletter bringing you the best of the DMV’s wellness community. Get On The List and get Wellcomm sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who would love Wellcomm? Then please forward our email or tag them on our IG.

[EVENTS RETURN] We’re bringing back DMV event coverage! But rather than share a long list, we’re curating one event per email and calling it our Hit Event. Keep reading to see what we picked this week, how we choose our Hit Events, and the experiences you can expect from Wellcomm going forward.

[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Jasmine Bowden, an Instructor at Barry's in the DC Metro Region.

Wellcomm: Where do you workout?

Jasmine Bowden: I work out at Barry's, the best workout in the world, obviously! I also spend a lot of time lifting alone at Vida. After teaching all day, I tend to enjoy a quieter environment to focus on myself and my goals.

WC: What does wellness mean to you?

JB: Wellness means curating an ideal environment to reach your fitness goals: what you eat, what you read, and what you do outside the gym all matter. It's a mental game! If you don't take care of your mind, your body won't be able to keep up.

WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

JB: My wellness goals for the next year can be separated into two different categories. For my mental well-being, I'm looking to limit my screen time. For my body, I want to do ten unassisted pull ups and to hit my previous PR of 185 on back squat.

WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

JB: The people who inspire me are Jorge Cardozo and Chris Severini. Both incredible coaches and even better humans.

WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

JB: If you're looking to change up your routine, I really recommend utilizing platforms that allow you to try out different formats at once! It's so important to find a modality that works for you. The only way to do that is through trial and error. There's also a surplus of classes, gyms, and clubs available. You will find something for you!

[HIT EVENT] HT Kaitlyn Doyle (5.26.25):

• What: Afterschool Coffee House Pop Up

• When: Saturday, April 18th 9 AM to 1 PM

• Where: SoulFire Collective Yoga Arlington on the Patio Outside (Weather Permitting)

• Why: They’re all about connection, on and off the mat. You’re going to leave class to grab coffee or matcha anyway, so they’re bringing one of the best in the DMV to their students.

• How: Drop in for any of their Saturday classes (8 AM, 9:30 AM, or 11 AM), then grab a drink post-class. You can book on their app or website with your current membership or class pack. Not a member? Take $5 off a drop in class with code HIFIVE

So how do we pick our Hit Events? They’re curated exclusively for our WellcommDC Community from former High Fives like Kaitlyn. Each week, we’ll highlight one standout fitness event in the WellcommDC email. This could be:

  • a group workout

  • a pop-up fitness event

  • a race or charity run

  • a pickleball tournament

  • a cycling ride

  • a recovery event or

  • anything else fitness-related

These events will be shared with all Wellcomm email subscribers, but submissions from former High Fives who are subscribers are prioritized, ideally for events they’re organizing, leading, or personally involved with.

We’ll feature one event per week, so spots are limited. We’re grateful for our High Fives and are excited to share these exclusive ongoing updates from the best of the DMV!

That’s this week’s edition of WellcommDC. Like what you read? Get On The List and get future editions sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who needs to read Wellcomm? Forward our email to them or tag them on our IG. Until next time, take care of yourself, and take care of each other.
