[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Kaitlyn Doyle (@k8lyn_doyle), an instructor at Soulfire Collective Yoga.

WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?

Kaitlyn Doyle: At least three times a week, I start my mornings at Soulfire Collective Yoga, usually flowing to LP Giobbi or Missy Elliott before the sun comes up. A huge shoutout to Carly Ohlrich (@carlyohlrich), our studio manager, for cultivating such a fun and liberated space.  Every Wednesday morning and some Saturdays, you can find me running with the The Ballston Runaways because there is truly no better start to the morning than a run, especially followed by coffee. CUT SEVEN is another favorite spot that makes me feel like I'm still a college athlete, conditioning with my team. I can't forget Juan Mercano's (@juanmrcn) and Clarence Stanfield's (@clarence_stanfield) classes at Life Time, which humble me every time. I am also excited to try out the new Performance 360 Arlington.

WDC: What does wellness mean to you?

KD: I grew up always being in the gym, whether for sports or with my aunt, who owned a training facility. For the longest time, wellness just meant being physically fit and in shape. But once I entered the world of competitive college athletics, it became clear that true wellness—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—is what separates the good from the great. I committed to taking care of myself on all these fronts, from the inside out. Now, wellness means everything: who I surround myself with, how I speak to myself, and everything I consume, from food to media.

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

KD: I want to continue deepening my breathwork practice and work on being more present. In just a few short months of practicing breathwork, I’ve become more grounded, stable, and better able to navigate life. Another shoutout to a local Arlington business: AWAREHOUSE has the most beautiful space, offering breathwork classes, infrared saunas, and cold plunges. In August, I’m helping crew my friend, mentor, and all-around badass, Kat Wyman (@katwyman), as she races the Leadville 100 Mile Race in Colorado. She’s running to benefit First Descents, an incredible organization that provides outdoor adventure experiences to young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. You can donate to the cause here. Also, keep an eye on our schedule for a fun Run + Yoga event benefiting them in June

WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

KD: Everyone says it, but seriously—do what truly works for you. Not the latest trend or what the world is telling you to do, because those things won’t stick unless you genuinely enjoy them. And find a community to do it with! We weren’t made to walk this earth alone, so we certainly weren’t meant to tackle hard things by ourselves. Give yourself grace and the time to fail, change directions, and start over. You’re always growing and evolving—and your wellness routine will too.

[Flow Under the Sun]

[INVITE] The House of Liberation returns to Union Stage on Saturday, June 8th—and this one’s for the community, about connection, and all about celebrating. Soulfire Collective Yoga is throwing an epic morning club experience: part yoga, part breath, and a full-on dance party led by the genre-bending, festival-slaying legend Baby Weight (@babyweightmusic). Expect movement, music, and deep release in a safe space where all are welcome.

"We need more safe spaces for people to move, connect, dance, and feel. So we created the House of Liberation, and combined world class DJs and world class yoga in an incredible club venue all in the morning. Our goal is for people to walk out more alive. More connected to themselves. And for sure sweaty." – the great Kat Wyman (@katwyman)
