[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Camdyn McIntyre, General Manager and Coach at MADabolic 14th Street in Washington, DC.

Wellcomm: Where do you workout?

Camdyn McIntyre: I’m the General Manager and a coach at MADabolic on 14th St! You can find me there just about every day either running around like a crazy lady or taking class, practicing what I preach by hitting my four to five classes a week! I also love the occasional class with the sweetest people I know at Up Dog Yoga and the vibes and burn from the reformer at Method Room!

WC: What does wellness mean to you?

CM: Wellness is so much more than just fitness and working out, the parts that I’m typically good at. For me in recent years, it’s been more about nourishing the non-sexy parts of wellness: taking care of my mental health, managing stress, focusing on hydration and nutrition, practicing self-care, and prioritizing recovery. That includes parts I’m not as good at. It means constantly putting in the work to ensure that all aspects of my life are working together towards overall wellness and focusing less on having the shredded abs I once desired.

WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

CM: I’m currently pregnant and expecting my first baby next month, so I think wellness for me over the next year is going to look so much different. Pregnancy has already been so humbling when it comes to fitness, and I know this will continue in different ways postpartum. So first and foremost, wellness goals for me include all the things mentioned above: focusing on mental health, recovery, and self-care. It also includes not passing judgement on myself for the rate I do or don’t “bounce back” and embracing any movement my body can do while remembering I’m learning to raise a human!

WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

CM: My OG MAD Mama, Drew Van Vleck, who inspires me to be the most badass and strong version of myself. I’m always inspired by Sam Treiman, who preaches fitness and yoga at every size! My forever accountability buddy is my husband, Will McIntyre, who always pushes me to be the best version of myself and reminds me what my body is capable of when I forget. And finally every mom who works out: the ability to just show up and move your body is incredible, and I’m forever inspired.

WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

CM: It doesn’t have to be perfect to get started! Sometimes we wait for the perfect situation and all the stars to align to make changes, but all you need to do is start small. Slowly implementing healthy habits over time forms a whole different way of life and a better version of yourself.

[HIT EVENT] From High Five Kaitlyn Doyle (5.25.25): Since I was featured in a High Five, I have become the Studio Manager of SoulFire Arlington. We offer free community classes at our Arlington and Bethesda studios: date and time rotates every couple of months. This class is completely free to our communities as a way for us to make yoga, community, and a safe space accessible to all! Our Arlington Community class is Tuesday at 4:30 pm, and our Bethesda Community Class is Friday at 7:30 am!

So how do we pick our Hit Events? They’re curated exclusively for our WellcommDC Community from former High Fives like Kaitlyn. Each week, we’ll highlight one standout fitness event in the WellcommDC email. This could be:

  • a group workout

  • a pop-up fitness event

  • a race or charity run

  • a pickleball tournament

  • a cycling ride

  • a recovery event or

  • anything else fitness-related

These events will be shared with all WellcommDC email subscribers, but submissions must come from former High Fives who are subscribers, ideally for events they’re organizing, leading, or personally involved with.

We’ll feature one event per week, so spots are limited. We’re grateful for our High Fives and are excited to share these exclusive ongoing updates from the best of the DMV!

That’s this week’s edition of WellcommDC. Like what you read? Get On The List and get future editions sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who needs to read Wellcomm? Forward our email to them or tag them on our IG. Until next time, take care of yourself, and take care of each other.
