[High Five] We gave a High Five to Tierra Briscoe (aka YogiTB aka Bald Head Yoga Girl in the Front), Owner of Tierra Briscoe Wellness LLC in from Prince George’s County, MD.
Wellcomm: Where do you workout?
Tierra Briscoe: I train at DMV Iron Gym.
WC: What does wellness mean to you?
TB: Wellness means freedom. It means I have the free will to show up every day feeling my best, feeling rested, and feeling poured into. Having access to recovery, clean food, and fitness classes is a blessing. “You’re only as old as you feel” is what I like to tell others, and my wellness is my top priority. Being able to get my blood panel done through Function Health allows me to know what’s going on inside my body. Wellness is not only physical: it’s mental and spiritual, too. It’s one of the most undervalued things we as humans possess. It’s something we must choose daily to pour into.
WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
TB: I want to participate in another HYROX race and compete in another bodybuilding competition!
WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
TB: I have a plethora of people in my community who inspire, motivate, and keep me accountable, but I’ll keep my list short today for time and reading purposes. My wellness list: Curtina Pope, Briyanna Pope, Samaiyah Williams, Mukisa Blount, my training partner Karen Wilkerson, and Nazinga Thomas. My yoga insposss: Tara Purnell, CJ Hunter, Nadiya Mahmood, and Sanaa Jaman. I know I am missing so many people, but the list goes on!
WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
TB: I would say take it day by day, literally, and don’t compare your journey or progress to anyone else’s. Be sure to extend grace to yourself through the process, find what works, and have fun with it! Wellness routines don’t have to be mundane or boring, but you want to find one that works, create some discipline around it, and switch it up when you hit a plateau, but give it time so you can actually see results. Lastly, the most important aspect of wellness… rest! And eat ya meals!

[WellcommDC Hit Event] Friday, September 4th: HYROX DC Shakeout Run
So how do we pick our Hit Events? They’re curated exclusively for our WellcommDC Community from former High Fives. Each week, we’ll highlight one standout fitness event in the WellcommDC email. This could be:
a group workout
a pop-up fitness event
a race or charity run
a pickleball tournament
a cycling ride
a recovery event or
anything else fitness-related
These events will be shared with all Wellcomm email subscribers, but submissions from former High Fives who are subscribers are prioritized, ideally for events they’re organizing, leading, or personally involved with.
We’ll feature one event per week, so spots are limited. We’re grateful for our High Fives and are excited to share these exclusive ongoing updates from the best of the DMV!
That’s this week’s edition of WellcommDC. Like what you read? Get On The List and get future editions sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who needs to read Wellcomm? Forward our email to them or tag them on our IG. Until next time, take care of yourself, and take care of each other.
