[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Emma Veon, the Head Trainer at F45 Navy Yard - Wharf and a Coach at SWEAT DC West End in Washington, DC.

Wellcomm: Where do you workout?

Emma Veon: I love my weekly split of high-intensity circuit work at F45 and controlled compound lifting at SWEAT DC. Now that Spring is rolling in, I’ll amp up the outdoor running, too! Anybody have a running club spot open? I'm also moving around the DMV, taking on new 1:1 and small group clients. Best way to find me is through my site or on IG.

WC: What does wellness mean to you?

EV: Wellness is the series of compromises between body and mind. When we can be honest with the questions and responses we issue to ourselves, we can challenge and play with movements that may not feel wholly good to either body or mind, yet still benefit the whole person. Plus, if I want to move forward, I need to know where I’m starting. We can always renegotiate the markers of success when we’re feeling well!

WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

EV: I’m competing in my first solo HYROX this June, and I want to push my limits while avoiding injury during my training. Thanks to some inspiration from my runner friends at SWEAT DC West End, I’ve been contemplating a marathon this summer, too!

WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

EV: I’m always uplifted by the incredible team of coaches, assistants, and members at F45 Navy Yard, especially Amy Wilson-Chapman, whose mentorship allowed me to quit my job and join the fitness world full-time. I’m also constantly learning from my team at SWEAT: their drive motivates me to push a little harder every day. I’ve had the privilege to work in and workout at an array of DC-based gyms and studios with the area’s most talented, generous people, and each one of them held me accountable in some way at some point.

WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

EV: Center the types of movements that feel joyful! And embrace the disruption that accompanies change. Rerouting your habits to pursue wellness may shape more than just how you spend a few hours of your week: it can change your whole life!

These events will be shared with all Wellcomm email subscribers, but submissions from former High Fives who are subscribers are prioritized, ideally for events they’re organizing, leading, or personally involved with.
