[HIGH FIVE] WellcommDC headed south this week to WellcommATX where we gave a High Five to Nicole Mitchell, a Pilates and yoga instructor and certified personal trainer in Austin, TX.
Wellcomm: Where do you work…out?
Nicole Mitchell: You can find me taking and teaching a variety of mat and reformer formats at Ritual Moves. I also teach a couple of lunch time classes on Tuesdays at ATX Pilates. My classes are rooted in classical Pilates while thoughtfully incorporating contemporary progressions and designed to challenge and invigorate, leaving you feeling calm, connected, and deeply at home in your body.
WC: What does wellness mean to you?
NM: Wellness is woven into the rhythm of my days. It’s the small, intentional acts that keep me feeling regulated and whole: moving my body, spending time in the sun, reading and journaling, or tending to my skincare ritual. These moments act as a nervous system reset, allowing me to continuously strengthen both my physical body and my inner landscape.
WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
NM: To continue growing as an embodied movement guide while practicing compassionate discipline within my own self-practice. I’m focused on cultivating a well-rounded sense of strength across multiple modalities, supporting longevity, curiosity, and balance in both my teaching and personal movement journey.
WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
NM: I feel incredibly grateful to be part of the team at Ritual Moves: it’s a collective of intuitive, intelligent, and supportive women who inspire me daily. The mentorship I’ve received from founder Kati Villavicencio has been especially transformative. After several years teaching in a big-box studio environment, I was beginning to feel creatively depleted. Kati cultivated a space rooted in care, artistry, and high-level mentorship, which allowed me to reconnect with my creativity and deepen my skills as a movement guide in a profound way.
WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
NM: Move with self-compassion. Take it one day at a time, follow what genuinely inspires you, and stay committed long enough to feel the shift. Wellness is transformative when it’s approached with grace, nourishing the mind, body, and soul together.
