[[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Bri Anderson, an Instructor at CUT SEVEN, Equinox, Club Studio Fitness, and Performance 360 Arlington in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.

WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?

Bri Anderson: I work and workout at Performance 360, Equinox, Club Studio Fitness, and CUT SEVEN. You can also find me outside running on the Mt. Vernon Trail pretty regularly.

WDC: What does wellness mean to you?

BA: Wellness means feeling good and grounded: finding peace, joy, and confidence through moving my body, taking care of my mental health, strengthening my relationship with God, fueling well, actually recovering, and doing things that make me happy. When all those little habits come together, I feel more balanced and able to show up the way I want to.

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

BA: Over the next twelve months, I’d love to hit a new PR in HYROX and stay consistent with my running. I’ve also been trying to prioritize recovery—sleep, stretching, hydration, all of it—so I’m hoping to build a routine that actually works for me and that I can stick to. And honestly, I’m just excited to get back into hobbies that bring me joy, whether that’s painting, dancing, music, or all of the above.

WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

BA: Honestly, every athlete who shows up to class inspires me. I always ask how they’re doing, and a lot of times the answer is “It’s been a rough day.” But they show up anyway and put in the work. That’s hard to do, and it’s motivating to watch. More specifically, my friends and fellow coaches in the fitness community keep me going. Mat Quirong is always there to hype me up when I need it. Amadeus Heimann will always remind me to stretch and actually take care of my body beyond lifting and running. Clarence Stanfield is usually the first to encourage me to get up and just do it whenever I start to doubt myself. Sara Kanber, Brie Dessaure, and Mel Rose show me what a strong woman looks like and constantly push me to level up. And Chris Perrin is always challenging me as a coach and giving me perspective that pushes me to grow. I’m also incredibly grateful for my friends at church—especially Nikki Maneffa and Anna Christy (both Instagram-less!)—who constantly remind me to stay close to God and show me what it looks like to walk through life as a disciple of Jesus.

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

BA: Start small and find ways to enjoy the process. If your goal is to move more, do it in a way that’s fun for you—something you’ll actually want to come back to. Also mindset is huge: surrounding yourself with people who think and move the way you want to helps a lot. Wellness isn’t a straight line—there will be ups and downs, and that’s totally normal. The important thing is finding what feels good for you and staying consistent.
