[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Liz Pedraja, a Coach at Jade Fitness in Washington, DC.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Liz Pedraja: I have a toddler, so getting out to classes can be hard. I tend to utilize my home gym. When I have a chance, I love taking a yoga class at Mimi Rieger Yoga or Bright Bear Yoga, getting a good lift at SWEAT DC, or dancing it out at 305 Fitness.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
LP: Investing in my body and health today so it pays dividends in the future.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
LP: I am currently pregnant, so I am very focused on having a healthy postpartum journey and a seamless return to running and lifting in the new year.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
LP: Lauren Polovoy was instrumental in teaching me how to fuel my body properly and routinely encouraged me to take rest when needed. Maddie Watkins gave me one of my first jobs in the business and really modeled how to be a kickass studio owner and instructor. I wouldn't be where I am without her support.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
LP: Surround yourself with people who support your goals and encourage you to succeed. You don't exist in a vacuum, and it will be a lot easier to stay on track if your friends and family are respectful and cheering you on.
