[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Michelle Martini, an Instructor at [solidcore] and SoulFire Collective Yoga.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Michelle Martini: I coach/teach at [solidcore] and SoulFire Collective Yoga, but I also have a unique full-time role. I’m a part of [solidcore]’s corporate team where I help grow the brand by opening new studios across the country. Workout-wise, I bop around: isn’t that a huge perk to living in the DMV? That said, I’m usually taking a class at SoulFire, [solidcore], or at Life Time Clarendon, taking a class with Juan Marcano Cheng or one of Mere Chambers’ programs via @TheLFTDSociety.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
MM: Wellness is an ongoing journey. It’s the practice of finding balance between your mind, body, and connections. It’s staying curious and open and making space for the people and things that matter. At the end of the day, it’s about making intentional choices that help you feel more like you.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
MM: Over the next twelve months, my goals center around being more intentional with my relationships, my time, my movement, and my sleep. I’m also eager to continue growing and deepening my yoga practice. I’m currently looking into my 300 YTT with Arrow Yoga and am in the early stages of exploring how my skills and experience can evolve into something bigger within the community.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
MM: This question is the most challenging: inspiration is everywhere in the DMV! Everyone, I have mentioned above, as well as Carly Ohlrich, Whit Murray, Amanda Jones, Fiona McDonald, Sadler Gensch, Rachel and Craig Hoffman, Dani Izzo, Rebecca Laubner, Dani Reidy, Claire Pettit, Kali Dawson-Hill, Tyler Browning, Katie Tigani, Kaitlyn Doyle, Steph Shea, Rachel Okotete, Katie Thompson, Amanda Simmons, Brooke and Kat Wyman, Jordan Ciminelli, Kateleen Hall… This list could have at least 20 more people on it!
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
MM: First: start small, stay curious, and give it time. Second: find people who inspire and push you, because who you surround yourself with is key.
