[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Bridgette Hall (@hallbridgey), a Coach at CorePower Yoga and [solidcore].
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Bridgette Hall: I coach at the [solidcore] 14th & U Streets NW, and teach Yoga Sculpt at CorePower Yoga at both City Center and H Street locations. I enjoy working out at both studios and love trying new boutique fitness studios around the DC area.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
BH: Wellness, to me, means taking care of your body inside and out as well as caring for your mind. When you fuel your body properly with whole foods and move regularly, you feel better. Wellness does not mean restriction, and it is not black and white. In today’s world, it is important to give yourself a little grace and a few treats every now and then. Everything is good in moderation. The power of positive thinking can truly change your life. I like to start my day by listening to daily affirmations on Spotify.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
BH: Over the next 12 months, my wellness goals are to stay consistent with regular workouts, even if that means taking a long dog walk when I am not in the mood for the gym. I also want to continue eating clean and healthy to fuel my body for efficiency. Wellness includes mental health as well, so I make it a priority to surround myself with good energy, good friends, and good times.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
BH:I find inspiration in my everyday life, whether it comes from clients who motivate me to work harder on myself, fellow coaches who encourage me to be the best coach I can be, or the consistent practice of mindful meditation. I love Jess Shepard (@risinghigherjessshepard) on Spotify for daily mantras and positive thinking.
As an amateur golfer, I get a lot of inspiration from Nelly Korda (@nellykorda), a professional female golfer. When it comes to getting ideas for my sequences, I love to follow celebrity trainer Senada Greca (@senada.greca). She is a beast, and her workouts are so creative.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
BH: That one is easy. Baby steps, baby. Wellness is not black and white. You can start by adding small pieces of wellness into your day, like saying positive affirmations, walking instead of driving when you can, and moving mindfully for 15 to 30 minutes a day. If you are nervous about joining a fitness class, do not be. Everyone in class is focused on their own wellness journey, not yours. Focus on yourself and have fun along the way.
